Exporting the structure from Revit to SEN

The model in Revit Structure has to be saved before it is exported to SCIA Engineer. If it is not saved, Revit Structure asks for the path and name.

Start export

The export button is in the Add-ins (CADs) tab and in the Options dialogue. Both start export from Revit Structure to SCIA Engineer.

Export dialogue and log file

The dialogue displayed during export shows the number of items which were exported and their status. The information about the whole process is displayed in the log part.

The exporting status is also displayed on the progress bar and by steps 1 and 2.

The log can be saved to the text-file when the export is finished.

SCIA Engineer is opened automatically if it is set in the option dialogue. Newly exported structure is displayed in the model window.

Exporting foundations blocks - prerequisites

When user wants to export foundations as foundation block, he must check special option in Revit. It is "Member supports" in dialogue Structural settings, tab Analytical model settings.

Foundation block created in SCIA Engineer cannot be imported to Revit Structure .

Example no.1 - someting is not exported to SCIA Engineer

If some part of Revit Structure model is not exported to SCIA Engineer, it is listed in the special dialogue.

  1. The model in Revit Structured contains 2 columns - one structured and one has analytical line switched off
  2. Export the model to SCIA Engineer
  3. One column is not exported, it is displayed in the log file
  4. Click on Filter button and see the reason

The result: One member is not exported, it is displayed in Filter dialogue.

Example no.2 - deleted member in Revit Structure (from build 244)

The information about deleted member is transferred from Revit Structure to SCIA Engineer, so the members is deleted during the update.

  1. The exported structure consists from 4 members
  2. One member is deleted in Revit Structure
  3. The structure from Revit Structure is exported again to the same project in SCIA Engineer

  1. The deleted member and appropriate free node are displayed in the log file
  2. The structure in SCIA Engineeris updated correctly

The log content:

The result: The deleted member is recognized by SCIA Engineerand deleted correctly.
