This benchmark concerns the worked example under chapter 4.5 of the document: Steel column bases under biaxial loading conditions, Patricia Medeiros Amaral of Faculdade De Engenharia – Universidade Do Porto, 2014
A column (HEB 240 -S235) base loaded with normal force (-200 kN) and bending (50 kNm) is considered. The steel grade of the baseplate is also S235 and its thickness is 20mm. The concrete block size is 1500x1000x400 mm and its grade is C16/20. The connection between the base plate and the concrete is carried out through four threaded rods of steel grade 8.8 with 20 mm of diameter and an embedment of 250 mm. All dimension data can be found in the picture and table below:
