2D subsoil - C parameters

The 2D subsoil - C parameters command serves for displaying stiffnesses of soil on selected 2D members with surface support.

Usage

  1. Calculate a FEM analysis of the model
  2. Go to Tree > Results > 2D members > 2D subsoil - C parameters
  3. Set properties of the command to specify mainly:
    • selection of 2D members where the results are evaluated
    • load type from which the results are derived
    • specific result value from the available list to be visualized
  4. Click on [Refresh] action button to display the results

Note: To get general overview about how to work with a Result service and its commands, see Results/Basics.

Values

Value Description Notes
C1z foundation compression modulus of the Winkler type, expressing resistance to the vertical displacement of the subsoil surface

When the interface between subsoil and foundation lies in a horizontal plane (x,y) and the axis z is vertical, then, according the IASMFE rules, the constants can be named as follows:

C1z - modulus of subgrade reaction

C2x, C2y - moduli of subgrade shear reactions

C1x, C1y - moduli of subgrade friction reactions

C2x foundation shear moduli expressing resistance to shear components in the x direction of the subsoil surface
C2y foundation shear moduli expressing resistance to shear components in the y direction of the subsoil surface
C1x foundation friction moduli expressing the resistance of the subsoil surface to its horizontal displacement components in x direction
C1y foundation friction moduli expressing the resistance of the subsoil surface to its horizontal displacement components in y direction
