When something is not exported
This can be caused by several reasons:
The cross section or material is not correctly mapped
Information concerning the problem can always be found in the log. You must also be sure that the folder containing the families (and used by the link) is not set to ‘read-only’.
The material is null when you have selected an element to be an ‘analytical element’, but you do not have given it a material in Revit:
Not exported items can be selected and showed by the Filter tool.
- There is information why the item was not exported.
- Checkbox displays only objects with a bad geometry.
- Show button selects and zoom the item in the Revit model window.
The dialogue Option ignores the entity
There is a possibility to ignore 2D member during the export. When this functionality is used then the 2D member is not exported to SCIA Engineer.
This can be found in the log:
The object is not supported by the Revit link
Only analytical elements can be exported. If the model contain any architectural entities, then they won’t be exported to SCIA Engineer. This also applies for elements for which ‘Enable analytical model’ has not been ticked on (we refer again to the image on the previous page).
The object is not supported by SCIA Engineer
Some objects are specific so they don’t have any corresponding entities in SCIA Engineer. Some of those are not yet implemented. It is possible to check in the help file of the Revit plug-in (in Revit) what is and what is not supported.
Problem with export in SCIA Engineer / import in Revit
- It is necessary to use ‘General XYZ’ in SCIA Engineer to import the project in Revit later on.
- Rigid links cannot be transferred to Revit.
- Horizontal 2D elements must have the type ‘plate’ and vertical 2D elements the type ‘wall’.
- We advise to link to the necessary families in the options of the Revit link. To do this, go to:
- CADS -> Plug-in Options -> Family Revit Path
- Set to the folder containing the families which you will need when importing (see image for example of default path).
Newest features (in build 244)
- Openings (in plates/walls) are now perfectly supported (see also example 3 in chapter First use of Revit link).
- Members deleted in SCIA Engineer are also deleted in Revit upon import (see the example No. 2 in chapter Exporting the structure from Revit to SCIA Engineer).
