Creating a template
The procedure for creation of a new template
-
Create a new project or open an existing one.
-
Define all the properties and even parts of a structure that should be included in the template. If an already existing project is used, make any changes that are necessary.
-
When you are satisfied with the result and you think that the current state of the project is what should become the template, save it As Template using menu function File > Save As.
-
Browse for the folder where the user templates are stored - this folder is specified in the Setup > Options dialogue (see chapter Directories settings dialogue).
-
Type the name of the template file.
-
Complete the action.
Useful tips
Template icon
This feature works only with old project manager (see how to change to old dialogue in chapter Project manager dialogue)
By default, each template uses a SCIA Engineer icon in the Open file dialogue. If you want to assign your own icon to your template, you may do it in the following way:
1) Create your own icon. The size of the icon should be 32 x 32 pixels.
2) Save the icon. The name of the icon must be the same as the name of the template file. For example, if the template file is named MyTemplate.esa, the name of the icon must be MyTemplate.ico.
3) Copy or move the icon file to the templates folder.
Sorting of templates
All the templates must be stored in the folder specified for user templates in the Setup > Options dialogue. However, it is possible to create subfolders in this user templates folder. The hierarchy of such subfolders is displayed in the left side of the Open project dialogue.
