Materials manager

The Materials manager is a tool that provides for control of material defined in the project. The Materials manager provides for creating, editing, deleting, and saving of materials.

The manager itself uses the same "manager philosophy" as other SCIA Engineer managers do. It contains control buttons for the standard manager operations:

[New]	It creates a new material.
Insert]	It creates a new material before the selected material in the list.
[Properties]	It opens an editing dialogue where the material’s properties may be changed.
[Change]	It enables the user to replace an existing material with a new one. All the members in the project that ware made of the original material are now made of the new one.
[Copy]	This function creates a copy of the selected material.
[Delete]	It removes the selected material from the project database. It is not possible to delete material that is used anywhere in the structure.
[Undo] / [Redo]	It performs an Undo or Redo operation.
[Report preview]	It opens a small document window with a table that summarises properties of selected materials.
[Read from system database]	It reads predefined materials from system database.
[Read database from file]	It reads material types that the user has saved into his/her external database.
[Save database to file]	It saves selected material types into the user’s external database.

In order to open the Materials manager :

go to Main menu > Libraries > Materials;
the Materials icon in the Process toolbar;
search for the Materials command in the SCIA Spotlight.

Note: The Materials manager can also be opened from various property dialogues that contain item Material. Such an item contains a button to open the Materials manager.
