Design to more layers
Since version SCIA Engineer 21.1 is possible to design reinforcement to more layers. The designed reinforcement fulfils minimal clear spacing between bars according clause 8.2(2) of detailing provisions.
The idea is based on calculation of reinforcement area which can fit to one layer, than the reinforcement bars are distributed to layers from the outermost to the centre of gravity. First are inputted upper and lower edges, than are inputted side edges. Side edges are shortened by upper/lower layers.
Axial spacing between bars or layers
slayer = ss-s,min,lim + ϕedge
where:
ss-s,min,lim | minimum clear bar spacing calculated according clause 8.2.(2) |
ϕedge |
Diameter of required reinforcement on edge. Can be different for upper and lower edges. |
Area of reinforcement in one layer
As,layer = Floor(ledge,eff / slayer) ∙ π ∙ϕedge2 / 4
where:
ledge,eff |
Effective length of edge. Length of edge decreased by cover from begin and end of edge, shear reinforcement diameter and half of diameter on begin/end. In case of side bars is effective length decreased also by slayer multiplied by number of top and bottom layers - 2. |
slayer | Axial spacing between bars. |
ϕedge |
Diameter of required reinforcement on edge. Can be different for upper and lower edges. |
Required reinforcement area is than distributed to layers according As,layer.
Design to more layers is applicative automatically on required reinforcement.
If provided reinforcement is used, than is required reinforcement area covered by provided reinforcement.
In provided reinforcement library can be defined how many layers is used, Auto or 1 to 5 layers can be defined.
Fixed amount of layers
The first are occupied basic reinforcement positions. Than is tested if basic provided reinforcement area is sufficient to carry required reinforcement. If not, than is added additional reinforcement from the outermost edge. Real clear bar distances between bars according clause 8.2(2) are tested, to be sure, that bars are not closer than is allowed.
Automatic amount of layers
Layers are added one by one, after each addition is tested if provided reinforcement is sufficient or more reinforcement is necessary. Real clear bar distances between bars according clause 8.2(2) are tested, to be sure, that bars are not closer than is allowed.
Addition cycle:
- Basic bars are added to all layers
- Additional bars are added one by one
- Next layer is added
In case that reinforcement cannot fit to maximal amount of layers, than are all remaining bars added to the last layer and warning about insufficient spacing is shown.
