Combined compression and biaxial bending

The combined compression and biaxial bending check is executed according to EN 1994-1-1 art. 6.7.3.7.

Reduction of the normal force N_Ed

The normal force N_Ed can be reduced by 20% in accordance with art. 6.7.1(7) of EN 1994-1-1. This is done when both conditions are fulfilled:

• No eccentricities are defined in the 1D-member properties of the composite column, in particular:

  • In case of N_Ed+M_y,Ed: e_z=0mm

  • In case of N_Ed+M_z,Ed: e_y=0mm

• The reduction of N_Ed by 20% leads to a lower plastic bending moment resistance (i.e. M_{pl,N,Rd,Reduced} < M_pl,N,Rd)
