3D Wind-Load Generator - Friction force

The generation of friction force is done in accordance with EN 1991-1-4:2005, chapter 7.5. This automatic generation of friction force is available for EC-EN (Eurocode).

The friction force can be generated on all types of wind data if the geometrical conditions are fulfilled according to the chapter 7.5.

The friction force can be switched ON/OFF for each wind data separately in the property panel:

When the friction force is switched ON, the setting of friction coefficient is enabled. The friction coefficient can be chosen for each wind data independently. There are 3 options for "surface type" according to Table 7.10

- Smooth (i.e. steel, smooth concrete) - cfr = 0,01

- Rough (i.e. rough concrete, tar-boards) - cfr = 0,02

- Very rough (i.e. ripples, ribs, folds) - cfr = 0,04

The friction force is then generated according to the EN 1991-1-4:2005, chapter 7.5.

For example on a steel hall:

Or on a canopy:

The generated friction area can be displayed in the Zones editor:
